How To Train Your Dragon - Movie Review
How To Train Your Dragon is arguably, the best film of the 2010s. Every scene of the movie is elegantly crafted and clearly showed with purpose and intention in mind. It’s a wonderful example of how everything is not as it seems and there is 2 sides of every story.
The Story
The movie is a telling about Hiccup, an awkward teenage Viking who aspires to be like is father, a dragon slayer. When Hiccup finally had the chance to be a full fledge dragon slaying Viking, he changed his mind and instead befriended it. Hiccup named it Toothless due to it's retractable teeth.
The Good
Hiccup's character development is well thought out and well paced. His very action has consequences, whether it's good or bad. Astrid and Stoick are great as well, they both sees hiccup as a worthless Viking but they changed their mind when they see Hiccup's relationship with Toothless and how both of them depends on each other.
Even though the film was release in 2010, the visuals in this film is still beautiful by standard. The director is clearly someone who has an eye for detail and good colour vision. Lastly, the music is amazing. The music they played fits each scenes very well.
The Bad
There are some logical inconsistencies in the film. For example, Toothless was trap in an escarpment for the majority of the film but when hiccup was in danger, suddenly Toothless was able to climb out of it. Besides that, Hiccup and his friends manage to befriends the dragons too quickly before the final fight.
Final Thoughts
The Film is great. It's one of my favorite movie of all time and I would highly recommend it to someone who have not seen it.
